Maybe the bug is that dhclient is not being initiated. Take a look in
Desktop -> Administration -> Networking and check that DHCP is set up
correctly.

Are there any X errors reported under /var/log/ ? Are you using the
Radeon driver?

I note this device doesn't have software mixing, so alsamixer won't do
anything. Does it show up under Setup -> Interface when you start
qjackctl (Jack Control)? Have you tried creating an .asoundrc file in
your home directory?
According to this page, you have to run usx2yloader manually too, but
that could be out of date:

If you have no luck, I suggest trying the alsa list for some tips.
