I've seen a number of reports of trouble with nVidia on-board ethernet 
on recent motherboards, using the free software 'forcedeth' driver. I 
don't think nVidia has updated its proprietary ethernet driver for Linux 
much either.

I'm not sure, but there is a reference here to it being fixed in 
forcedeth 0.53:

However, Ben Loftis has been testing forcedeth 0.54 and has run into 
another problem on 64 Studio, which is not present on Ubuntu. When the 
interface is brought up, it gives the error:

request_irq failed for rx 0

So when Free releases the 2.6.18 kernel packages, we'll have to test 
this again. If the installer kernel is older, there may still be 
problems during the install for owners of these motherboards.
