It sounds like you've got two different problems there. Firstly, the
support for your on-board ethernet chipset is a little flaky under
Linux. For instance, the forcedeth driver sometimes requires the machine
to be powered off completely for 15 seconds between reboots, if
dual-booting with Windows. Easiest solution: put a standard PCI ethernet
card into the machine until the driver stabilises.
Your second problem appears to be that your Radeon card is not being
autodetected properly. Please log in as root on the console (terminal
mode) and run:
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
