Hello all,

may I ask for some advice on how to proceed best?

I am using 64Studio (0.9.4) for my sound and video work to my complete satisfaction.
But I am running into increasing problems with the installed version of libstdc++6

I built and patched a little Ardour 0.99.3 and csound5 and I am involved into cinelerra
developement a bit. So I had to add debian Etch, Sid and the marrilat-repos, of course
with the aproriate apt preference/pin settings in order not to mess up my whole system.

But recently more and more programs require basic libraries to be at "Etch level". At
the moment I am struck, as I cant install qGIT (a tree/branch viewing frontend for GIT).
Some days ago, I tried to install Open Office, and I failed because of the same reason.

Now I am a bit unsure on how to proceed best. If I release the PIN on 64Studio's archive,
a great lot of my system will be upgraded. If I just manually try to install some packages,
- -- worse -- apt proposes do remove XServer, gnome and the like (not really surprising,
given the way apt works).

Are other users struck with a similar situation? Or did I make some specific, additional
mistake, that has to be sorted out? Any hints, comments or help appreciated.

some details follow:

when installing qgit, I get:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
qgit: Depends: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1-12) but 1:4.1.1-5 is to be installed
Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.1-12) but 4.1.1-5 is to be installed

at the course of installing OpenOffice, I got:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
ia32-libs-openoffice.org: Depends: ia32-libs (>= 1.4ubuntu17) but it is not going to be installed

apt-cache policy libgcc1
