Hi Quentin,

Are you running version 0.9.4 ? When I plug in a USB stick, it mounts
automatically and I see Nautilus open a window with the contents of the
stick. In /var/log/messages I see:

Oct 10 11:13:01 ip39 kernel: usb 3-4: new high speed USB device using
ehci_hcd and address 4

Oct 10 11:13:07 ip39 kernel: sda: sda1
Oct 10 11:13:07 ip39 kernel: sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi removable disk sda

In /etc/mtab I see:

/dev/sda1 /media/disgo vfat
rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,quiet,shortname=mixed,uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=077,iocharset=utf8
0 0

'Disgo' is just the brand name of the memory stick.

Cheers!

Daniel
