 The Jack developers have requested that Debian stops modifying the Jack
 build so that a version number is inserted in the library name, as this
 causes problems when users try to install a newer Jack version from
 source. See also the related Debian bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
 bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=353680

 It would be good if we could fix this before the Etch release, as the
 problem is inherited by all Debian-based distros, including Ubuntu.
