Could this cause a problem if extra packages need to be downloaded 
during the install, and the user has not got a DHCP server on their 
local network? I'm thinking of something like security updates.

True, it's about the same amount of work. I don't have a problem with 
recommending that users have DHCP available on their network, assuming 
they aren't using static, non-NAT IP addresses.
