clear enough, so there's not much point in try to build another 2.6.18
with the patch..

Well, I think that this kernel issue is the basically the only pending
one, so as soon as we fix it we could release. If there is no
particular reason for having version 2.6.18 or 2.6.19, I'd really
consider the possibility of releasing with 2.6.17 and keep on working
in the background on testing 2.6.19, when it's ready we can provide an
upgrade path.
