Right, 2.6.17 is well tested now. I agree it's a better candidate for a 
stable release than a kernel which isn't officially out yet.

If we go with our existing 2.6.17 package for 1.0, then the only really 
important bugs to solve are http://64studio.com/ticket/259 and 
http://64studio.com/ticket/236

So if we can find solutions to those, we should be able to release 1.0 
in the next week or so. I also have to write the README :-)

After the stable release of Debian etch, expected next month, we can 
begin to work on 64 Studio version 2.0. Apart from the advantage of 
stable Debian security support, I'm looking forward to having Gnash, 
Xara, DSSI, FreeBoB 2.0 and Ardour 2.0 in that. It would be good to have 
one of the new NLE video editors too, if they are usable in time.
