I  would suggest trying the latest  mdadm package from Debian/etch, as
the one sported in the latest 64 Studio releases is a bit behind.

If it fixes the problem for you we could upgrade  it..

I don't think that it would help, the  mdadm package has not change in
the last 2/3 release candidates.
