[64studio-devel] Gnome slowdown solution

Hi List,

As a response to another user, I reported a slowdown in my desktop 
graphics as well, on my Asus AMD64x2 system.  Last night I bought a 
relatively cheap graphics card (GeForce 6200) and reinstalled 64 Studio. 

Graphics is now great, and now that my system is not sharing the RAM, it 
seems to perform smoother (even though the MB documentation said that 
the on board nVidia graphics would not influence performance.)


In retrospect, when I first installed 64 Studio, my MB was not supported 
by the kernel, and I had to use the nv patch on my system to get it 
going.  While that driver worked well, it hampered the rest of my system 
performance.  When my hardware got the support it needed, I did not 
perform the patch again, leaving my graphics painfully slow on the 
refresh.  (My audio performed well however - so no complaints)
